ZIN RESTAURANT'S EASTSIDE FARM

"Farm to Table" is not a catch phrase with us, but a way of life since 2002 when we started farming our own seasonal ingredients. Located just southwest of Healdsburg in the Russian River Valley, Eastside Farm grows produce year round for the restaurant. We start all of our plants from seed and tend to them without the use of chemical fertilizers or pesticides.

We sustainably grow heirloom tomatoes, summer and winter squash, pumpkins, onions, carrots, radishes, cucumbers, melons, grapes, berries, beans, corn, greens and herbs. We also have fruit trees to provide us with lemons, pears, figs, peaches, apples, nectarines and plums. Some of the crops we grow are on the Slow Food Ark of Taste. These are items which have been identified by the slow food movement as being endangered. The best way to save these foods from extinction is to raise them and eat them!

What farm would be complete without chickens? We have a healthy flock with over 60 laying hens to provide us with fresh eggs. Some of these breeds are on the Slow Food Ark of Taste as well as the Livestock Breeds Conservancy List.

In order to both ensure pollination for the crops and provide very local honey, we are also beekeepers. Bees pollinate our vegetables, fruits and herbs.

You can find Eastside Farm produce at the Windsor and Healdsburg Farmers' Markets and at select stores and restaurants in Sonoma County.
